NEWLY-ELECTED NEBRASKA WORKERS’ COMPENSATION COURT PRESIDING JUDGE
On June 23, 2023, Judge Dirk V. Block was elected presiding judge of the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court for a term beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2025. The election was approved by the Nebraska Supreme Court on June 29, 2023.
Pursuant to Section 48-155 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes, the presiding judge will rule on all matters submitted to the Compensation Court except those arising in the course of hearings or as otherwise provided by law. Additionally, the presiding judge will direct the assignments of the work of the Compensation Court to other judges, clerks, and employees, preside at meetings of the judges of the Compensation Court, and perform other required supervisory duties. Furthermore, the presiding judge may designate another judge to act as presiding judge on his or her behalf, whether that be because of disability, disqualification, or absence.
