Governor Branstad Signs Workers’ Compensation Reform Bill into Law
On March 30, 2017, Governor Branstad signed into law the Workers’ Compensation Reform Bill passed by the Iowa House of Representatives and State Senate. Over the next few weeks, Baylor Evnen attorneys will be authoring a series of articles/blog posts detailing topics such as the following: effective dates, handling recommendations in light of specific statutory amendments, and issues to look for in applying the new Iowa workers’ compensation law.
These will result in significant changes and duties for employers/insurers under Iowa workers’ compensation. While the bill is favorable for employers/insurers in bringing back a more measured balance to the workers’ compensation system in Iowa, understand that there will be different obligations in dealing with Iowa workers’ compensation claims. We would encourage you to consult with your workers’ compensation attorneys to make sure you are staying within the law and appropriately applying the changes arising out of the Workers’ Compensation Reform Bill.
