
SCOTT D. PETERSON
Scott Peterson maintains an of-counsel relationship with Baylor Evnen Wolfe & Tannehill, LLP, offering sophisticated insight into estate and family business transitions, estate planning, and other transactional matters. He continues to practice law in Valentine, Nebraska, as a partner at Peterson Beel, LLP, in addition to his association with Baylor Evnen.
Scott’s family has ranched in and around Kilgore in both Nebraska and South Dakota for 5 generations. In addition, Scott’s maternal great-grandfather was the first doctor in Mullen, Nebraska. After graduating from Valentine Rural High School, Scott attended the University of Nebraska on a Regents Scholarship. There, Scott majored in Agribusiness with minors in Animal Science, Political Science, Ag Economics and Communications. Scott continued on to the University of Arizona Law School where he was awarded the Perry Rogers Scholarship, a full tuition scholarship for law school. At U of A Law, Scott concentrated his areas of study in business and tax planning, estate planning, real estate and water law. Scott was also a member of the Arizona International Law Journal.
Upon returning to Nebraska in 2003, Scott worked for 3 years for Rembolt Ludtke, LLP, a Lincoln, Nebraska law firm. While at Rembolt, Scott practiced in the areas of Real Estate, Water and Environmental, Domestic Relations, Agricultural, Estate and Business Planning and Employment Law.
In 2007, Scott moved from Rembolt Ludtke to be a general counsel and general manager for Lone Creek Cattle Company. Lone Creek is a wholly-integrated beef company based in Lincoln, Nebraska with ranching and farming operations in the Sandhills area and three farms in eastern Nebraska. As general manager, Scott was intimately involved in every aspect of the operation; including the legal work included in managing a company of its size.
These experiences have given Scott a unique perspective on personal and business needs for clients. Scott looks forward to the opportunity to put his education, experiences and perspective to work for you and your business.
Scott is involved in many organizations including being previous Chair of Tax and Credit and a current member of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, previous Chair of Taxation and Member of Nebraska Cattlemen, previous officer of Brand and Property Rights for Nebraska Cattlemen, previous Chair of Real Estate Probate and Trust Section of The Nebraska Bar Association, previous President and current Member of the Cherry County Hospital Foundation Board, current Member of the Bennett County Hospital Foundation Board and is a current Member of the Project Rural Practice of the South Dakota Bar Association.
